Branding, Art Direction, Event Promotion
Utah Royals FC is an NWSL professional women’s soccer team, which debuted in 2018. In addition to the primary branding, I developed the seasonal aesthetic for each season from 2018-2020 to excite and create recognition among fans.
After several different design concepts had been thrown out, we were finally able to come up with an exceptional logo. Balancing the icons of Utah with those used by URFC made for a tough job. With everyone on board and working together, we created something truly great - one that captured their essence while also being original. It was such an honor to work with these dedicated people day in and day out as they give it their all for this team!
After debuting the club last year, we had to face a new challenge this year - being an offshoot of two other
clubs under one parent company. So in order to set ourselves apart, we took inspiration from both RSL and
Real Monarchs (who share similar branding) and decided to play with glitch effects for our graphics for 2019.
When coverage for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup came around, it was refreshing to take liberties
with something so different yet still easily recognizable!
